Biblical Hebrew - Level 100

Biblical Hebrew Level 100 (Bereshis-Mishpatim)

Establishing Hebrew vocabulary and Beginners level Hebrew literacy. Lectures will consist of two parts, Biblical Hebrew vocabulary and lessons and insights from the weekly Parashas (Torah portions). In the Parashas we will cover Genesis chapter one through Exodus chapter twenty-four. We will also seek to find how these lessons apply to our own lives as believers in the One True G-d. Each week we will add Biblical Hebrew words to your vocabulary. While teaching, Dr. Lang will use these words frequently in lectures. This will assist you in becoming familiar with the terms and their pronunciation.

Church History - Level 100

The History and development of the doctrine of the trinity

Equipping students with a fundamental understanding of early Christian doctrine, and the progression of trinitarian theology in Christian thought. Lectures will be structured to coincide with the textbook for the course.

Each week will consist of a single lecture over one chapter of the textbook followed by weekly reading assignments. At the 100 level we will cover the entirety of the book in approximately 12 weeks with quizzes, essay questions, etc. being assigned variously throughout the course. There will be a winter break toward the end of the end of the calendar year for approximately 2 weeks and classes will resume after the new year.

Each lecture will build on information discussed in the previous week, illuminating the slow progression of religious thought throughout the world. The focus time-period of this course will be 356 B.C.E. – 431 C.E. with a special emphasis on the relationship between Judaism and Christianity during this era. Throughout the course, students will obtain a meaningful understanding of Jewish and early Christian relations, and how they contributed to the formation of what would eventually become an articulated trinitarian doctrine.

Courses will be archived for study purposes or in the case that you must be absent. Even though you can retrieve archived classes, we encourage you to attend all the classes live.

The online classes will last not more than 75-90 minutes.
